These look great. Would you be able to let me know the circumference around the shaft? I have Justin roper but the shaft is kind of wide which really limits which pants I can wear them with.
I’ll tray you remember to measure them tomorrow night when I get home form a shirt vacation.
And apparently a little buzzed…. Haha
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Nothing wrong with that- enjoy that shirt vacay! 🤣
Great video! Brave Star is the best deal for Japanese Selvedge denim.
They really are. I’m still surprised at how cheap the prices are and how high the quality it. Stellar company.
Nice overview! Question: I wear Justin Roper boots.. would the slim fits fit over these boots, or would I need to get the straight fit?
I’ve never had a pair of Justin boots so I cannot say for certain. But roper style boots tend to have a narrower shaft, so you may be ok. I would personally go with the straight left to be certain. The straight leg are not over all too much loser, but they do fit much better over my HH Wellingtons.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Ok got it- thanks man!
Ohh thank you for the review- where were you a few months ago when I was trying to get a size scale comparison -lol. I got this exact bag (size, model, color) and I love it. Really nice review- I am now a subscriber! Cheers from St. Pete Fl.
thanks for watching and subscribing! A few months ago I was probably getting as many jackets reviews in as possible since I will be wearing the same jacket nearly every day for a year now (11 months left!)! haha. The Redline Rally is in full swing! But I still have to come back to one of my main loves.....bags!
i cant stand those flaps on shoulders....
Just received an Ultra Axiom, first TAD pack for me as well and I’m a BIG fan. One of the best fitting harnesses I’ve ever used, crazy sleek & great org.
Agreed. This axiom is super comfortable to wear. It almost disappears on the back.
i think the older versions are WAY more comfortable. the new s2 straps tend to pull out and away, the older ones just were stiched narrower and fit better imo. I still carry both s2s, but just my experience.
@@PanaMaJwaaRd I did notice on day 2 that the harness seemed a bit wide. Playing with the load lifters helped to pull it in and lay much better. I am pretty broad chested, so it worked pretty good for me. But for some one not as broad chested as I, will have to play around a bit more and hopefully get the straps to be more comfortable for themselves. But over all I am really liking the bag, and it’s very comfortable for me.
Awful company with third-rate quality goods and non-existent customer service. They use cheap, defective components for their gear and won't honor their Repair or Replace Guarantee, which constitutes fraud. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews about their terrible quality and zero customer service, and go with a reputable company with higher quality goods.
That was not my experience at all. The customer service was great for me. I originally emailed them to confirm a jacket I bought on eBay was legit. They got back to me within a day and then answered all my questions about the jacket I bought featured in this video. I found the materials and build quality to be great and on par with the price point. I did not need to deal with a warranty claim, as the only thing that needed repair, I was more than capable of fixing on my own within 10 minutes.
Wait tad sells mystery boxes?
Haha. No. They agreed to send me a sample for review, but where then out of the fast pack light speed. So they said they would be getting a restock in soon if a few things, would I like to wait. I said sure, but I wasn’t sure what they were restocking and going to send me out. So it was a surprise to me what I was being sent for review. Currently using the Axiom and loving it.
Loooove triple aught design!!
After only 1 day of use…..SO DO I!
@@jeffgrantMEDIA YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!
What’s the song?
Just some track from the UA-cam music library. Normally it show the track name and artist in the description. But I’m not seeing it now, either because I’m on mobile or they don’t show on shorts.
25L is good for trekking use in Nepal.
This is a great pack, but tracking in Nepal, it might be a bit heavy. It sure won’t wear out though!
What jeans would you like to see next? I’m thinking maybe some double knee.
Faded glory incoming 🙌🏻
Hell ya! I’m stoked to hear that. Can’t wait to check it out!
I suppose for that thick tubing you might be able to pass the 8Timber hook around the tube and through its own shock cord, like a bight, if it's long enough.
What thick tubing are you referring to? I filmed this 2 years ago, so I don't remember off hand all the tests I did, and a quick scrub sees nothing thick beside the angled wood hang.
there will be many returning customers .value for money & very durable.
They already do. You buy a stick bag, you come back for a custom bag…. Or 5. Haha. Great packs all around.
I enjoyed your very fair review. As a life-long New Englander, I'm a big fan of Boston Scally Company. I know you mentioned a few times about them not having pictures of the caps actually being worn. Whether it's because of your advice or not, they've added a part on the customer review section where they ask for customers to attach photos of them in their caps. It's kind of a clever and organic way to get their customers involved while also eliminating the cost of hiring models and photo shoots.
That is a great way to get reviews and photos. People are more likely to do so if just asked for photos.
Fact check, Saddleback Leather bags are NOT made in the USA but are manufactured in Mexico. They are still excellent products.
Made in Texas. I asked before I filmed.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Unless they made a change recently, their bags have always been made in Mexico. They even have videos of the factory on their site. They are still excellent products.
@@greyarealove I stand corrected. You are right, they are made in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I asked in the email, but they never responded to that question. The bag shipped from Texas, and they have a Texas showroom. I must have assumed they were Texas made. But we know what happens when you assume something..... But after sending out the video, they did not mention my error.
Do you still use this bag? Do you recommend waxing it, or should i just get a waterproof cover for the bag?
I use it from time to time. I prefer the bag before I waxed it.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA thanks for the fast response
@@gabemoore3189 you’re welcome.
Hey Jeff! If you don’t mind sharing, how tall are you?
5’9”
I can only assume that the rigidity of the back of the backpack was to protect the tech you decide to carry with you. I guess they went for protection over comfort on that note.
They can put all the protection they want in the bag. If it’s not comfortable to carry, it’s useless. Also, it’s been so long since I carried this bag, I don’t remember much about it off hand, besides I was not happy with it.
Just got this jacket myself it was delivered yesterday can’t wait for the faded
Are you doing the Rally? There are a few of us fading this bad boy
@@jeffgrantMEDIA no. It doing the rally but following it
@@EzaVinylAddict then you don’t have to wear your jacket when it’s 90 out! Haha today is going to be a hot one in heavy denim!
Nice jacket 🤟
Thank you! I’m really enjoying this one.
Gotta love PA weather lol. Price is just right. You figure an average shirt is 20 25 bucks for a 1 day use. So the fact you can get multiple days use out of it saves you in the long run
PA, snow in the morning, beach in the afternoon! Haha. Good contrast too…. One regular cotton T- shirt is like $25 and I t sticking in a day (or less when second summer hits PA). So one shirt cost the same at the 3 you would wear in that same day… and less laundry! So you end up saving money!
Sorry about the stickers Jeff, but stoked you're lovin your Puffins! Be sure to push the drink all the way to the bottom. Your can or bottle will kind of lock into that rubber base and be the most stable.
Thanks for checking my visor out! No worries on the stickers! I was able to peel off the adhesive from the stickers and slap one on my file cabinet. I did make sure I got my cans and bottles all the way down and was able to drink my daddy juice’s without fear of tipping. Loving these koozies!
I got these boots last week. I struggled like hell to get them on. They were nice, looked really good. Struggled my ass off to get them off a few minutes later. Returned them today. That upper was too narrow (and too tiring) for them to be worth keeping and wearing.
They took about 1.5-2 weeks for the shaft to relax and get them in and off easier. A boot jack really helps (as is it does with most cowboy boots). But the narrow shaft allows them to be worn with a larger range of pant fits.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA yeah, I'm gonna stick with my Thursday Presidents for now.
@@Tom_H327 I need to pick up a pair of Thursdays myself. I way close to getting a few pairs of boots….. the the heat hit and I switched to my summer shoes. But fall is right around the corner!
@@jeffgrantMEDIA I want to try Thursday's Frontier roper. I should just order them but they might end up being just like the Rhodes. Haha. 😆
@@Tom_H327 I wish I could try them for you, it Thursday never responds to review queries. I’m currently interested in their Captain or Diplomat (basically their faux Red Wings).
Jeff, your little girl is a ray of 🌞! With regards to the mystery box I feel like you’re buying garbage 😂 you’ll definitely never going to know what’s inside it and man there’s some really strange things in those boxes 😝 Thanks for the video I enjoyed watching it!
She knows she is a star and she had me wrapped around her little finger! Haha. 90% of these boxes are going to be junk. But they sure are fun to open. And to be honest….. I did expect to find underwear. Haha
Hahaha! If you do get another surprise box you may want to open it wearing a hazmat suit. Matching colors for dad and daughter 😂
@@AVEXentSUCKS when my friend and I were at the place, we joking ot said we should have brought gloves (if you saw what we saw, we really should have). Maybe the next box will have matching hazmat suits inside it!
@@jeffgrantMEDIAI vote for the hazmat suits!
@@elizabethdavis2666 we could have abused them when you found that “special” box!
The lining of the F&T is also made in New Jersey?
The liner is imported. Though they do not say where form on the site. But it is cut and sewn into the jacket in LA.
They sound awfully swooshy
They do make a bit of noise, but it’s really not noticeable. There’s certainly no track pant swoosh.
Nice review Jeff, been looking at these Merrels myself. I have several pairs of Hokas and Altras that I rotate. How would these compare in cushioning and stability?
As far as Hoka goes, nothing compares to cushion. But that cushion takes away from response. These Merrells have a lot more stability and responsiveness than any Hoka. They worked great for all terrains I ran on, and would pick up another pair when these wear out.
How tall are you? Trying to see how a big it will be compared to how tall I am.
I am 5’9 175.
Jeff, great video some reviews say the sizing is off.. I read a review/ comment somewhere where the person said they are 5’9 and 185lns and a size XL was too small and they had to order a XXL . I’m 5’10” and 200lbs with broad shoulders and XL is a perfect fit with room for layering . I think this jacket is fantastic and I could probably fit into a large with room for light layering
These are certainly a tapered fit. I would say they follow a European size scale closer than an US one. I was pretty slim when I got mine. In hindsight I should have sized up one for a better fit and to allow layering. But there wasn’t too much out there on these at that time. And i had an old V1 of this jacket first, which fit really well. I wish I kept that one, as I ended up preferring the tan color in the long run. But the quality and craftsmanship were great on this jacket.
Hi Jeff! I'm still having trouble choosing... my main concern is the water bottle pocket. Both my Owala bottles (24oz & 32oz) only fit in the 25L... but I'm sure the 20L is enough for my EDC needs. Also, being skinny and barely 5' 7", I don't want a huge looking bag. Would you go the 20L + MOLLE external bottle holder way or the 25L + side compression straps way? How about the weight difference.. is it really just 0.2 lb?? thanks in advance, loving your content!
The weight difference is. It very noticeable. I honestly don’t think I would really tell if I picked up each bag empty back to back. They are cordura, so they have a bit of heft to them. As far as size, personally would go with the 20l and external water bottle pockets. But the 25l shouldn’t look to big. The space is in the depth. So you will only see it in profile. From the front or back, it will look the same.
I love denim too but I don't have that one.
You need this in your life!
I love that color
This is a really great color. It’s is making some great fades. I also have a pair of indigo/indigo IH 634’s and they are also awesome and fading nicely.
Wow beautiful
It’s finally June and I can wear this jacket. It’s a bit warm, but I’ll sweat it out.
all trash
Nope. All solid clothing. American made, premium materials. If you can’t afford it, you dont need to be negative.
I’m so happy to see you’re in love with the belt and thank you for the kind words. A lifetime belt is what I hope for. I like to tell my customers “buy it for life, not a landfill.” I’m a firm believer in obtaining goods that don’t just end up as garbage in our throw away society. Items that have an heirloom quality is what I strive for. I love when things get handed down like an old watch from a father to a son. It has meaning and no doubt a lifetime of stories behind it.
I’m meant every word! But with confidence and buy for life! Andy makes his products with quality, care and most of all pride. These truly are lifetime purchases.
It’s been a beast to break in!
I can finally find out how rough this jacket will be! I just submitted my raw proof. I cab technically start wearing it now, but I already wrote June 1 on my fade log. So I will have to wait a few more days. I'm sure it will be 90 and 1000% humidity this Saturday!
@@jeffgrantMEDIA you are the boss. You can do it. Man I waiting forever to wash it tho. You’re right it is bigger in length to accommodate for some fabric shrinkage.
@@ansipage I don’t plan on washing this for at least 6 months. I’ll probably do a cold soak it in a month or two. Got to get out those starches and the initial summer sweat.
Do you work for Huckberry
I do not. I have a partnership with them. They send me gear to test and review.
I bought this bag several months ago. Like you, this bag matched my idea for the perfect day bag. But after using for a few days, I have to reconsider. The shoulder straps are perfectly fine for me. The issue for me is my usage case. My main need for a day bag is for holding layers of clothes for temperature changes - light jacket, hat, gloves, etc. I wish the front stretchy pocket was much bigger to able to hold some of those clothes items for quick access. It's annoying having to unzip and re-zip every time I enter/leave a building into the colder temps outside. Also, there aren't any attachment points on the front to add shock/bungie cord for external carry. I don't need two quick-access pockets for small items (top & front), just the top one would have been sufficient. I'm now considering the Aer Go Pack 2 - it has a large front-panel stash pocket.
I went with a Gregory Nano 24 and I found it to be leaps and bounds above the Matador. I also had a Nano 20, that I found too small for the needs I had, but might work for you. It is a much better pack.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Yes, I was looking at the Nano 20 as well. The AER Go Pack 2 is "packable" in the sense it's pretty flat when empty. That's useful for me when traveling, so it'll be easier to place into a larger bag. I believe the Gregory Nano has more foam on the back - so maybe takes more space when inside other luggage? Of course it's a trade-off - packability vs. comfort.
@@bani_niba the Nano series will lay fairly flat in a bag. The padding is t too thick, but very effective for comfort and a bit of structure when carrying. I either use it as my carryon, or cram it on top of my suitcase when packed.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Thanks! I might take another look at those bags...
Is this headphone considered flat? I've been using it for a while now, and from what I hear, its low frequencies are too boosted. I Have other cheaper headphone which i think better than this.
I would not call these a very dynamic headphone. They are cheap, but for what they are work fairly well. I do use them still from time to time. I mostly keep these in a camera bag to check levels.
Good video, I agree Amazon shipping presentation on most things is horrible. I ordered the jacket through Huckberry and the presentation was much better .
I’ve had many orders through Huckberry and they are always 100% on point with their shipping.
The absence of a stretchy side pouch is acceptable, as it is prone to becoming a point of weakness and eventual wear. An alternative solution could be increasing the capacity and incorporating a drawstring instead.
While I do see your point, as stretch material would be the weakest material on the bag. I’ve had and used ( hard) bags with stretch materials for side pockets and never had one fail. I personally would not like this bag nearly as much if it had draw strings and on the bottle pockets. I would find that both gaudy and cumbersome.
No inside pocket. No excuse.😊
I ah ent worn this I awhile, sense it is too warm. But I thought it had an inside pocket.
Inside pocket on right side of jacket.
